FAQ
Not a bug, just how it works.
Things in Aposa that look like bugs but are really how your phone or the app works.
Things that look like bugs, but aren’t
A few things in Aposa behave the way they do on purpose, or because your phone decides. Here is what to expect, and what to do about it.
Why won’t speech capture work on my Android phone?
Aposa only listens with a speech language that is already downloaded on your phone, so what you say stays on your phone. It never switches to online recognition behind your back. If the language isn’t there yet, Aposa tells you, and you can type instead.
To fix it, open Settings > Google > Speech and download the language you speak, or turn on or update Speech Recognition & Synthesis there. Then try again. On an iPhone, check Settings > General > Keyboard > Dictation Languages.
Why did my reminder arrive late on Android?
Your phone can remind you while Aposa is closed, but Android and some phone makers can delay a reminder when battery restrictions are on, after a restart, or when the phone is switched off at the chosen time. If you force stop Aposa, open it again and your reminders are restored. Your card is never lost: it stays safe in your Album.
If reminders keep arriving late, look in your phone’s battery settings for Aposa and relax any restriction on it. The wording differs from one phone maker to another. Also check that notifications are allowed for Aposa.
Where is the tab bar on my folded iPhone Duo?
It is the iPhone’s own tab bar. On the folded, narrow screen, iOS draws it as a rail down the side instead of along the bottom. Use it to move between your tabs, just as you would the bottom bar on any other iPhone.
How do I add an Aposa widget to my iPhone?
iOS doesn’t let apps put a widget on your Home Screen, so there is no button for it inside Aposa on iPhone. You add it yourself:
- Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen.
- Tap + (or Edit, then Add Widget) at the top.
- Search for Aposa and choose Your day.
- Pick a size, tap Add Widget, then Done.
On Android, open Widgets in Aposa and tap Add to home screen, then choose Add in the prompt your phone shows.
“Add to home screen” does nothing on my Android phone
Some launchers, for example Samsung’s with Home screen layout locked, won’t accept a new widget until you unlock the layout. Unlock it in your launcher’s Home screen settings, then try again. If your phone doesn’t open the prompt at all, add it by hand: touch and hold your home screen, tap Widgets, then choose Aposa → Your day.
Why does Aposa ask me to link Google or Apple before turning on backup?
Your backup is locked with a key that only you can open. To get that key back on a new phone, Aposa has to confirm it’s really you with Google, Apple or Facebook (Apple is offered on iPhone). An email code alone can’t do that safely, so an account that only signs in with email has to link one of them first. Without a link, your backup couldn’t be restored.
Why does backup and restore keep asking which cloud account to use?
On Android, Aposa always opens the Google account chooser before a backup or a restore. Many people have more than one Google account, so Aposa never quietly reuses an earlier one. Pick the account your backup is saved in. If you pick a different one, nothing is changed, and you can try again. On iPhone there is only one iCloud account, so Aposa confirms it. To use another, change it in iPhone Settings and come back.
